The Second Convergence War
Origins
Following their defeat in the First Convergence War (GSC 140), the Convergence retreated to deep space, focusing on rebuilding their military power. Over the next four decades, they developed new terror weapons, the most infamous being the Convergence Scout Walker — a towering battleoid designed for psychological and urban warfare.
By GSC 184, the Convergence launched a new campaign, striking multiple frontier colonies. Unlike the first war, which relied on subtle abductions and guerrilla tactics, this war was a direct military conflict, featuring planetary invasions, fleet battles, and brutal attrition warfare.
Key Battles and Strategies
The First Raids (GSC 184–188)
- Convergence forces raided deep into League space, attacking isolated outposts and agricultural worlds.
- The Scout Walkers instilled terror in civilian populations, leading to mass evacuations and colony collapses.
- The League struggled to respond due to logistical weaknesses in their outer territories.
The Defensive Shift (GSC 188–194)
- The League adapted with defensive planetary shields and energy-based weapons, neutralizing the electromagnetic disruptions previously used by the Convergence.
- Special counterintelligence teams were formed to counteract infiltration attempts.
- The first direct victories against Scout Walkers came from combined infantry and air assaults.
The Counteroffensive (GSC 195–201)
- The League, now fully mobilized, pushed the Convergence back, retaking lost colonies.
- Final Battle of the Second War (GSC 201): The League destroyed Convergence shipyards, forcing the enemy into a full retreat.
Aftermath and Legacy
- The League reinforced its frontier defenses, preventing future incursions.
- Surviving Convergence forces scattered, though they would regroup for one final attempt at expansion—the Third Convergence War.
